ABOUT GAFPA

Meet the BOARD

  • Megan Harris is a devoted wife and mom, married to her husband Aaron for 16 years. Together, they began their foster care journey in 2016. What started as a family of four has since grown through the joy of fostering and adoption. Now a family of seven, the Harris family continues to serve their community by opening their home and hearts—currently caring for a sweet baby.

Megan has had a passion for foster care since childhood. She believes that investing in the lives of children is one of the most powerful ways to change futures and impact generations. She loves going on adventures, spending time outdoors with her family, and cooking for the people she loves. For Megan, foster care isn’t just something they do—it’s part of who they are.

“Fostering is a unique calling, often met with the response, “Oh, I could never do that.” My reply is consistent: “I believe you.”

Opening your home to become a foster family is undeniable a divine calling. It’s a journey where the support of the Lord is essential; without it, the path would be insurmountable.

We are all tasked with caring for orphans and widows in various ways. If fostering isn’t your calling, perhaps your purpose lies in supporting foster families. It takes all of us, working together, to look after one another.”

  • When it comes to providing a safe haven for children in need, our love has no boundaries. With a deep commitment to fostering since 2017, our journey is nothing short of extraordinary. We have opened our doors, hearts, and arms to over 25 children in our community.

We have been called to be more than foster parents; we are mentors and lifelines for children going through the toughest of times. We understand that fostering isn't just about providing shelter; it's about nurturing, guiding, and uplifting children when they need it the most.

  • Tim and I have been married for 5 years and together we have a blended family of 10 children, ranging from preschoolers to adults. Two of my children were adopted through foster care, and one was lovingly “chosen” twice - through adoption and again when Tim adopted her after marriage.

I fostered from 2012 to 2018 and also provided respite care, welcoming a total of six children into my home and adopting two. My journey began in Florida, where I adopted my son as an infant, and continued in Amarillo, where I later adopted my daughter.

Though the foster and adoption journey is never without challenges, it has been the most rewarding experience of my life. GAFPA has been an incredible support to my family, and I am honored to serve as Secretary and give back to this community.

  • Originally hailing from the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, my family and I relocated to Amarillo in 2012 with our five youngest children. My husband, Jon, is deeply involved in the aeronautical engineering field, which initially brought us to this region.

In 2017, we decided to take a leap into the world of fostering, diving in wholeheartedly. Our very first placement was a sibling group of three, and we felt incredibly blessed to play a role in helping them find their forever family. Over the years, we've opened our hearts and home to 29 children, providing temporary care and support.

Throughout our fostering journey, we've experienced the joy of God's blessings as two more children have become part of our family. Fostering can undoubtedly be challenging, but the rewards are immeasurable. I have found great fulfillment in offering support to those navigating the unique trials and triumphs of foster care and adoption through foster care.

  • TJ and I have been married for 13 years, and our journey as foster parents has led to the expansion of our family in a beautiful and diverse way. Alongside our four biological children, we have embraced three adopted children into our hearts and home.

We are passionate about our GAFPA community and strive to make a lasting impact beyond our immediate household. We hope that our family's journey can be an example of the impact that one family's love and dedication can have on countless lives. With open hearts and open arms, we have proven that family is not just defined by blood, but by the unwavering love and support we offer to those who need it most. Our beautiful family is living proof that love knows no bounds.

  • Emily Gibson is a devoted wife, loving mom, and daughter of the King. She and her husband of 15 years, Zack, have been deeply involved in the foster care community since 2014.

Their parenting journey began with the joyful arrival of their honeymoon baby and continued as they welcomed many children through fostering—eventually adopting five amazing kids.

Today, their family of eight is full of life, love, and laughter. Emily and Zack consider parenting not just a responsibility, but one of their highest and most sacred callings. Their lives are a testament to faith, love, and the power of saying “yes” when it matters most.

When she’s not chasing kiddos or pouring into her church community, Emily loves spending quality time with her family—whether it’s around a board game, solving escape rooms, or making memories on vacation.
